BBL AND MOXI aftercare

  • There is virtually no downtime after this non-invasive and gentle procedure. In most cases, you are able to apply make-up, return to work and resume most of your activities immediately.

⚡️ You may experience some redness and swelling in the treatment area that should resolve within a few hours.

⚡️ You may notice darkening of your pigmented spots, followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage.

⚡️ For Moxi, you may see the small micro dots called “mends” where the laser was applied. As the microzones heal, they will darken and feel rough. Between days 3 and 5, the mends will slough off, revealing renewed skin beneath.

⚡️ Follow your clinician’s aftercare plan until the skin is completely healed – typically one week after the treatment. The skin on your body might take longer to heal compared to your face.

  • 01 Cleansing Your Skin

Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Use your hands and fingertips to cleanse using gentle patting motions. Do not rub, scrub, use an exfoliant soap or skin care brush.

    02 Hydrate & Moisturise

A moisturiser or prescription after-care should be applied generously with clean hands over the treated area and reapplied whenever your skin feels dry.

    03 Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a must and should be used daily beginning the day of treatment and used consistently. Your Tuesday skin tech will recommend a sunscreen at the time of your appointment. Ensure to reapply during sun exposure. Do not expose your skin to direct sun exposure for 14 days as the treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change.

    04 No Need for Exfoliation

While your skin is healing, do not use any abrasive products like exfoliators and alcohol-based toners. While it may be tempting to exfoliate your skin, you must remember that it is healing and regenerating. You should only apply products that help soothe and heal the skin during this time.

  • ⚡️ Exfoliating
    ⚡️ Sun exposure
    ⚡️ Sauna
⚡️ Sweating (exercise/vigorous activities that cause sweating)
⚡️ Tanning beds, saunas, hot baths or showers until redness is gone

  • 01 BBL - Warmth

If the treated area is especially warm within the first 12 hours after the treatment, a cold compress or ice pack can be used to provide comfort.

    02 Moxi - General Discomfort

For general post-treatment discomfort, an over-the-counter oral pain relief e.g. panadol, can be used. Avoid scratching and itching, as scarring and pigmentation complications can occur.

    03 Moxi - Swelling & Warmth

There may be some degree of swelling or warmth immediately post-treatment; a cold compress or ice pack can be used to provide comfort.

    04 Moxi - Redness

Redness is normal and expected. Redness generally increases in intensity for the first few days after treatment with day 3 usually being the most intense. Redness can persist for up to 7 days, depending on the intensity of treatment. Use gentle cleansers and keep your skin moisturized and out of the sun which will allow your skin time to heal and limit further stress on your skin.

05 Moxi - MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris)

MENDs will appear on the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment as tiny dark spots and bronzed appearance to the treated skin. MENDs are part of the healing process where treated tissue is working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated. During this time, your skin will be very dry and feel like sandpaper before flaking and peeling off. Keep your skin well moisturized to support the healing process. Do not pick at your skin.

Even on a regular basis, it’s important to treat your skin gently with products that are effective but not damaging to your skin. When you are healing, however, you must show additional care and be extra careful to get optimal results from your treatment.

Most people will need a series of treatments — typically at least two or three, but potentially as many as six, to get the desired result when treating a specific skin condition or concern. Maintenance sessions thereafter are recommended at least once a year to ensure overall skin health and rejuvenation.
